Every gringo fears it when they make trails to the great unknown.

The big D. The backside disaster. Diarrhea is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the serious problems you’ll face when you don’t have access to a source of pure water. Dehydration and disease often follow, and they often lead to death.

For a gringo, it’s just a vacation-ruining nuisance. But for the locals, it can be devastating. Some things you just can’t build an immunity to.

Bombas de Mecate has been designing, producing, and installing quality water pumps all over Nicaragua since 1990. They created a pump they could install for less than $200 during a time when $1000+ pumps were the only game in town.

25% of the profit made by this shirt will be given to Bombas de Mecate, the inspiration behind this design. Get yours here.

This June the money will be delivered by hand to this worthy group of proud Nicaraguans.

Thanks for watching.

It wasn’t easy. Our creations were far from perfect. We’ve definitely skated better stuff. And yet, somehow, it’s undeniable – skating this spot was a thrill. An experience of true recreation. It seems like there are many forms of leisure that “the man” wants you to partake in – crime dramas, sports bars, friends reruns… the list of boredom goes on and on. This is the complete opposite. Welcome to City Proper.

Felicidades!! Big ups to Carlos Guillen, it was a pleasure filming and skating with him.

John Wachlarowicz grew up skating with us. Ever since high school ended he’s been all over, cruising the streets and spreading good vibes wherever he goes… but beware, because he takes his guacamole very seriously.

I designed and brought some decks to Nicaragua!! I managed to smuggle a dozen in – gave a couple away as prizes at a contest I hosted. I have to make return soon! Here is a little montage I put together of the good times we had skateboarding in Nicaragua…
